Omar hits out at Mehbooba over ‘garbage’ remark, says world of politics is indeed cruel

Srinagar, Jan 8: Hitting out at Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti over her garbage remark following resignation of various senior party leaders, National Conference (NC) vice-president Omar Abdullah said the people, who were ”honest, decent and hardworking” till they worked with her, were dubbed ‘garbage’ after they parted ways.

“The world of politics is indeed a cruel world,” Mr Abdullah, who is the former chief minister of the state, said.

“Last year at this very time they were defending her in the assembly & council. With her they were “honest, decent, hardworking” people & after they leave they become “garbage”. The world of politics is indeed a cruel world,” he wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.

Referring to the resignation spree of PDP leaders, Ms Mufti, who was the chief minister in PDP-BJP coalition government, said that her party was ‘free of garbage now’. She made these remarks on Monday while addressing a gathering of party workers in Bijbehera in south Kashmir on the third death anniversary of her father and PDP founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
