India is now taking IT software power to the next level and is insisting on developing technological temperament along with scientific temper among citizens through Atal Innovation Mission, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday.
Mr Modi was delivering the valedictory address at India-Italy Technology Summit in New Delhi.
Mr Modi said, the NDA government has made technology a medium for social justice, empowerment, inclusion, competent government system and transparency.
The Prime Minister said, effective last mile delivery of government services is being ensured through technology. Mr Modi stated that more than 300 Central and state government services have been brought under a platform through the Umang App.
Mr Modi added that online services are being provided in rural areas through over three lakh common service centres.
The Prime Minister said India’s space programme is a great example of how stress is being laid on quality for all innovations. He stated that India is now sending satellites of many countries, including Italy, in the space.
Mr Modi announced the launch of the next phase of the India-Italy bilateral Industrial research and development cooperation programme.
He said India and Italy have agreed to enhance cooperation in the field of LAD – Life Style Accessories Design – and there will also be a special focus on the leather sector, transportation and automobile design.
Delivering the keynote address, Italy Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said, he had a fruitful bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Modi. He added that they explored Italian partnership in government’s Make In India scheme.
Mr Conte said India is growing at a fast pace, and immense potential has opened up in several sectors.
He further said that both countries are collaborating on robotics, genetics, aerospace, renewable energy and research-based programmes.
