J&K STATE WUSHU TEAM REMAINED 2ND RUNNERS UP IN THE 27TH SENIOR NATIONAL WUSHU CHAMPIONSHIP AT SHILLONG

J&K State Wushu team remained 2nd Runners up in the 27th Senior National Wushu championship held at Shillong from 10th to 15th October 2018. It is consecutive 3rd time J&K remained 2nd Runners Up in the Senior National Wushu championships.

 
Services Selection Board and All Indian Police remained Winner and Runner Up in the championship respectively. The J&K Wushu team secured 2 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze medals in the championship. Moreover 10 Players have qualified for the National Games to be held in Goa -2019.
Surya Bhanu partap singh and Rajinder singh both World Medalist a secured Gold medal in the championships, while as Haqeek Ahmed,Chander Dev Singh and Abhishek Singh Jamwal secured Silver medals in the championship. It is pertinent to mention here that during the year 2018, Wushu Association secured First ever Bronze medal in any games in the Asian Games, Silver medal in the Junior World Wushu championships, and 02 Bronze medals in the World Wushu championship at Russia.
The Wushu in the state is progressing day by day and has proved its metal at the National and International level from time to time, but for the further strengthen of this combat sports in the state in order to get medals in the forthcoming Olympic and Asian Games the government needs to come forward as per the policy or the guidelines of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and sports (GoI). The Office bearers of Wushu Association of J&K Sh. S Owais, IPS , Sh. H K Lohia, IPS, Sh. Yogesh Sawhney, Sh. Aushtosh Sharma,Sh Vijay Saraf, Sh. Ranjeet Kalra, Sh. Deepak Handa,Sh. Sadat Nasir Wani,Sh. Gautam Gupta, Bhavneet, Sh. Sunil Sharma and Sohit Sharma have congratulated the J&K State Wushu team for the excellent performance in the Senior National championships. Moreover the office bearers of Wushu Association of J&K appealed the J&K Government that Wushu is the only sports in J&K which have given medals at the World and Asian Level competitions, but the sports is still lacking proper infrastructure and Basic equipments. The State has got potential in this particular martial art but needs proper attention of the J&K government.
